Stresssssssssssssssed

I've enrolled in two classes for this summer session: Sign Language and Auditing. Each class is held twice a week and is a little over 3 hours long. Sign Language is amazing, I have such an amazing teacher but it can be difficult. The amount of signs we learn per class is unbelievable and we have a quiz each class. Then comes my Auditing class which is in the evenings. I have my first Auditing exam this coming Tuesday over 9 chapters (it was going to be 10 but my teacher was generous enough to take away one). These two classes both started on the 16th of July. Literally 2 weeks ago; so try to imagine that my stress level has gone up a considerable amount because of all these quizzes and the Auditing test. I've been studying every chance I get and I can tell it's having an affect on me already (the studying). I think I am mentally exhausted because all I ever want to do is sleep and take a break and not talk to anyone. I'm not a doctor or anything but I think this is not a good sign. And since I've been stressed, I haven't really gone to the gym because I need to study which is leaving me in a weird stress cycle of loneliness, fattiness and sleepiness that I can't seem to step away from. Someone help me please!

OK, time to get back to studying. Wish me luck!

PBR

After working yesterday, I went to Power Plant Live! which is an area downtown with a good amount of bars. I went there for one of my friends 21st birthday celebration. He was able to get a happy hour at the country bar called PBR. It was so much fun because not only did they play country music, they also played other types of music: hip-hop, pop, etc. This bar also has a mechanical bull which I didn't ride but that's only because I was wearing a dress (a picture of the bull is at the bottom). And, I love me some cowboy hats and they allowed those there. They also allowed snapbacks but you were not allowed to wear them backwards (one of my friends got yelled at for this).

I didn't to out with my roommates (welp) but that's ok. It was great to go out with new people or just people I didn't know very well because I got to hang out with them and literally dance the night away.

Today, I'm working and then swimming some laps after work because I need to get my six pack...of abs that is. Wish me luck!

Boston

I spent this past weekend in Boston, Massachusetts visiting my friend Joanna who goes to Wellesley College. Our time was spent walking around, experiencing the nightlife and going to Outside the Box which is a nine day free concert event held at Boston Commons. The event started on the 13th and the very last concert we saw was called Welcome to Earth which comprised of artists from 78 different countries coming together to inspire audiences with their music. It was very cool. There were African, Asian, European and American influences in each song. I suggest you go to www.rotu.com to check it out.

I also went to Mike's Pastry in the North End I believe and got 2 cannoli's that were divine! It's a must get treat while in Boston. (I cheated on my healthy eating diet here but it was worth it). Joanna was also trying to convince me to move to Boston after I graduate and who knows, I might do it. It seems like there is so much culture here and "its a city for young people" as my friend Dan told me.

Lastly, I didn't know this but Dunkin' Donuts is EVERYWHERE in Boston. Joanna said it was started there. It's literally on every corner and even though coffee makes my stomach hurt, I kept getting the iced caramel latte [It hurt so good]. I even got it when I went to South Station to wait for my bus to go back to Baltimore. This trip was so much fun apart from the sweaty man who I sat next to on my bus ride to Baltimore. I understand he was a big man, but us little people like our space too. Anyways, I don't feel like stopping my travels yet. I miss being in Denmark and just exploring. I'm going to try to go to the beach before the school semester starts and also Hershey Park in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Vegetarian

I think I might try to be a vegetarian. Or perhaps cut back on the amount of meat I eat per week to only 2 days of meat eating. Why? Well one, cooking meat is annoying. I'm too impatient most of the time to wait for chicken or red meat to cook through. Two, think of all the time I will be gaining from not having to wait for meat to cook. Three, I cut down my risk of heart disease, obesity and high blood pressure by a tremendous amount. Four, I will be forced to be more adventurous with the meals I prepare. Five, I will eat even more fruit! And finally, the sixth reason, my friend Sarah told me that being a vegetarian gave her more energy. And I am in a stage of my life where my energy levels are diminishing.

So for now, I am only eating meat twice a week. I will still eat fish and eggs. It's just the poultry and red meat I'm cutting back on.

*I am also eating this noodle dish at the moment that has chicken and shrimp in it and it just tastes weird. Further example of why I'm doing this.

The Detectives Frozen Banana

I've been watching a show called Sherlock lately and ok, I lied, I finished watching both seasons of Sherlock in about 4 days and I am absolutely intrigued and adore this show. Sherlock is a British television crime drama that presents a contemporary update of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson (Wikipedia). Each season has three episodes that are an hour and a half long so you are basically watching a movie. There were delays with Season 3 because both actors who play Sherlock and Watson were filming movies such as Star Trek and the Hobbit but the show will be back this October. I can't wait! Detective shows are the best! If you want a great show that makes you think, entertains you thoroughly, and makes you want to be as smart as one of it's characters,  Sherlock is for you. Both seasons are on Netflix.

After watching this show, I've been trying to be more observant and I think it's going well so far. For example, I've noticed that the bananas I put in the fridge have been turning brown on the outside. hmmm...this is a mystery to be solved!! And so what does a young adult do to find answers? Use google of course. And here is the answer to the browning banana.

"Bananas: Wash skin, peel and eat. Avoid grayish-yellow fruit that indicates a chilling injury; a banana with this coloring may never ripen correctly. Ripen at room temperature and refrigerate when the banana reaches the stage of ripeness that you prefer. The skin will darken in the refrigerator, but the fruit will not."

And there you go, Mystery Monday has been brought to a close. Let your banana ripen to where you want it and THEN put it in the fridge so it stays that way longer.

I know I haven't written in a month and I'm sorry, I've been busy with work and school and working out. My goal is to write any day I can even if it's just a sentence. This should be very interesting.

Timeless

My mind doesn't seem to be friends with Time, it's timeless.
The moment I try and shut it down,
it springs up like a jack in the box.
Frightening me with its every thought of the things I wish to forget.
I stand up and the thoughts rush through me. I sit down, quietly, but the buzz only gets louder.
When I shut my eyes, this queen bee commands her soldiers to find the flower, oh yes.
This timeless mind seems to know no bounds but that of the people, places, faces and moments I try so hard to forget.

*time comes and goes and sometimes it stops for a moment. These moments can reveal to us the answers to the greatest questions of life. Let your mind wonder because the adventure it takes you on can allow you to know the true you.
